Facebook has suffered a major outage affecting users around the world has stretched beyond 14 hours, it’s believed to be the biggest interruption ever suffered by the social network.
The outage affected all of Facebook’s platforms including Instagram, Whatsapp and the enterprise communication platform Workplace by FB.
In a post on the Workplace by Facebook blog by Julien Codorniou, he said:
“Some people are currently having trouble accessing Workplace and other apps in the Facebook family. We’re focused on resolving the issue as soon as possible.
There has also been some inaccurate media speculation that this is a DDoS attack; we can confirm that this is not the case.
Thank you for your patience and we’ll update our blog with more information.”
Facebook has since reported all services operational and said the issue was caused by a server configuration change.
