Google has launched a series of security updates to G Suite, its online productivity and collaboration platform. The focus of the new updates is on protecting a company’s data inside G Suite, both through controlling who can access it and through providing new tools for preventing malware attacks and phishing.

As workplaces become increasingly more cloud-based – companies are understanding the importance of online security to protect employees and data. Companies such as Facebook have recently been targets of data and privacy breaches which shows how vulnerable companies can be.

Google is announcing the beta launch of its new security and alert centre for administrators. The new tools have a focus on collaboration between administrators who are responsible for security. These tools are meant to create a single service that features best practice recommendations, but also a unified notifications centre and new tools to triage and take actions against threats. There is also a new security investigation tool that allows admins to create automated workflows for sending notifications or assigning ownership to security investigations.
