Richard Pope has joined simplycommunicate as Non Executive Director to help drive the growth of our events and the simplynetwork.
Richard co-founded Procurement Leaders in 2004, quickly establishing it as a leader in the information and events space. He was responsible for strategy, fast growth, international expansion, building teams from the ground up and acquiring a company to build Procurement Leaders into a globally recognised brand.
Procurement Leaders serves an impressive blue-chip client base and has won 28 industry awards. Richard looks forward to making an impact on simply’s development:
“It’s an honour to join Marc and the simply team at this juncture in their growth journey. I hope I can bring some of the lessons learned from my last roles and translate them into real value for the vibrant IC community”.
Marc Wright explains simply’s first appointment of a non-executive director:
“As simply has grown I am painfully aware that I do not have all the answers. It is a very different world from when we started in 2005; The old models of running any publishing, events or consultancy business have changed beyond recognition. You can no longer just sell to people, trusting that they will believe you know what you are talking about it. Today online communities and informal networks mean that Internal Comms professionals are looking for trust first and the contract second.
“Richard has built Procurement Leaders by putting the user at the centre of everything they do. I love they way they obsess with helping their members thrive and build their own professionalism and careers.
“We want to do for the IC community what Richard has done for procurement. We have started that journey with the launch of the simplynetwork and our smile events, such as smileexpo and smilelondon. Richard’s advice will help us support more communicators, more deeply, more of the time.”
Emma Mackie has also joined the simply team as Community Manager for the simplynetwork:
“I’ll be working alongside Jo Ayre to help our members get the most out of there time on the network. So if there’s anything in particular you want to discuss, or if you need any help, don’t hesitate to drop us a line!
